» Hyena AudioGame platform - for playing choose-your-own-adventure audiobooks. Limitless applications for vision-impaired users, as well as those wishing to play a game while still doing another task. Plus, the first example game is Lone Wolf, which I'm currently enjoying via a Nintendo DS port.
» Absolutely brutal logic puzzles - Calling them "brainteasers" is a farce. I found only one I thought I might be able to solve.

Java Juice »

Desperate for coffee with an empty pantry, today I opened up the package of Java Juice I got for Christmas. Pouring it into the cup, it smelled uncannily like bacon. According to the current internet-meme rage, this is a good thing. To me, not so much. I added some hot water and took a sip.

Surprisingly, it wasn't bad. In a pinch, it definitely did the trick. It would be great backpacking or camping, but I don't think I'd want it often.

When Present is Not »

Of interest, radiocarbon dates — those that approximate the age of archaeological items — are expressed as years "before present." I had always assumed dates I saw were in reference to the current year, but in actuality, "present" is 1950. Willard Libby discovered the process of radiocarbon dating around this time, for which he won a Nobel Prize.

It makes sense, as publications would become inaccurate over time if "present" did not refer to a specific year. Something new every day.
